Eco-friendly technology SF6-free switchgear is one of the biggest sustainability and innovation trends in electrical infrastructure. Lucy Electric was first in the UK to launch and commission a non-SF6 ring main unit, ahead of the anticipated EU ban on SF6 in 2026. The Sabre EcoTec is purpose designed to help Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) create sustainable and cost efficient network infrastructure, key to reaching net zero. It meets the same standards for insulation, short circuit performance and reliability as its predecessor, while substituting a greenhouse gas that is 23,500 times more damaging than CO 2 with synthetic air. Sabre EcoTec is designed to fit within the existing substation footprint and can be directly mounted to the transformer, removing any need for costly adaptations.
